This paper focuses on the Ice Protection (IP) technology of an icing research airbus. An EKF icing detection method is combined with the dynamic inversion to maintain the aircraft fight trajectory during the wing ice accretion process. This fault-tolerant control method is an adaptive control with online estimating the aircraft icing aerodynamic parameters. We proposed an algorithm framework which possesses two IP functions, namely the icing detection and fault-tolerant control. Then the accuracy of parameter identification and the performance of fault-tolerant control were evaluated by investigating a steady-level cruise scenario. The results show that the algorithm can identify the control derivatives with high tracking accuracy, and that the control laws are efficient to maintain the aircraft trajectory and stabilize the aircraft attitude with in-flight wing ice.
