NH/sub 3/ laser pumped by TEA-CO/sub 2/ laser line has long been known as an effective FIR emission source in mini-cavity laser. For NH/sub 3/ laser operated with a very high pressure (compared with the conventional cavity laser), interaction of Raman processes had a significant effect on FIR emission, both on output power and on spectral characteristics. In this paper, we report a study of three individual emission characteristics (67.2 /spl mu/m, 90.4 /spl mu/m and 151.5 /spl mu/m) which could lead to a more comprehensive understanding of the mini-OPFIR cavity. The study was based on the density matrix equation theory.
