In this paper, an Enhanced Bidirectional Boost DC-DC Converter (EBBDC) offering high voltage gain with reduced switch voltage stresses is presented. The converter uses a lesser number of components as compared to similar bidirectional topologies. It is suitable for battery/ supercapacitor charging-discharging applications in hybrid energy storage systems. The EBBDC is a non-isolated topology having a common ground for input and output which makes it suitable for use in other industrial control applications. The steady-state operation is discussed in detail for both step-up and step-down modes, as well as the small signal analysis for the converter is carried out in this paper. To corroborate the theoretical analysis of the EBBDC, a 200W, 200V prototype is tested in PSIM and the results are presented.
