Spectroscopic parameters of high-purity silica glasses and fibers made by sol-gel technology have been investigated. Optical absorption of glasses was measured on Specord-M4O. For the investigation of optical fibers new device has been designed. The light source is a solid state laser with parametric changing of frequency. The optical signal is registered by spectrometer connected with IBM PC. Absorption bands are formed near 4.6, 2.0, 1.7 eV when glasses and fibers are subjected to /spl gamma/-rays. This absorption bands are considered to be due to nonbridging oxygen hole centers.
