In the development of autonomous vehicles, a high-precision vehicle positioning system is critical. The Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is the most widely used vehicle localization system owing to its advantage and ability to quickly obtain the absolute coordinates of vehicles through satellite positioning. In addition to GPS, other components such as cameras, LiDAR, inertial measurement units (IMU), odometers, and environment feature detection and recognition are used in the design of the localization system. We developed a cooperative vehicle positioning system and a vehicle positioning protection system to ensure the accuracy and reliability of vehicle positioning information. In several scenarios, a single positioning module experienced information interruptions or failures, which prevented autonomous vehicles from obtaining sufficient positioning precision for navigation, thus impacting their vehicle control and safety. Self-driving cars are indispensable. Thus, it is important to ensure the accurate and stable operation of vehicles.
