This paper presents an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) strategy based dynamic performance improvement scheme for position sensorless interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive. In traditional high- frequency injection based sensorless control, the digital filters and the inaccurate position tracking observer used in sensorless control deteriorate the dynamic property. For dynamic performance improvement, an improved ADRC strategy is proposed adopting ESO and NLEF control, which can estimate and compensate the nonlinear and uncertain disturbance. The proposed ADRC strategy based sensorless control scheme was evaluated on a sensorless IPMSM drive, and the experimental results confirm the expected dynamic performance.
