Hundreds of people with physical disabilities have found practical uses for rehabilitation robots in their lives. This paper discusses the ethical problems that arise when rehabilitation robots are introduced to people with physical disabilities or to people with mental disorder. For people without mental disorder, self-determination would bring a better quality of life. It is more difficult to determine the extent that patients with mental disorder would benefit from the use of robots.
