In this age of Industry 4.0, digital twins (DT) have exploded in popularity as a result of widespread consensus because the innovation has great promise for a wide range of sectors. Once used in a secure and cost-effective manner, virtual twins pave the way for the digital and physical realms to combine and engage. The aviation sector, medical treatment, automated production, and smart cities are just a few of the numerous possible uses for digital twins. There is a greater need than ever before to discover creative technical options due to the soaring electrical automobile industry. One industry that could benefit from digital replication is the automobile industry. Electric vehicles powertrain systems consist of an electric motor, a power electronic system, and a power supply. Electric cars are considered to be incomplete without these three parts. The main goal of this study is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of digital twins in electric vehicle (EV) powertrains. When studying the development of the technology for digital twins, it is important to consider its primary use cases, such as in electric-powered car powertrains. Finally, the paper wraps up by outlining the future technological doubles applicability to vehicles powered by electricity and talks about the many challenges these innovations are currently facing.
