To build a more accurate and realistic adaptive cruise strategy, demand for ACC in different driving styles should be considered. Therefore, in this paper, an adaptive cruise control strategy considering driving style is proposed. The NGSIM dataset is divided and screened, and an evaluation method based on objectivity score coefficients is proposed to classify driving styles into three categories: aggressive, moderate, and cautious. The safe distance model is established based on variable time headway and considers different driving styles. In building a layered ACC system controller, the upper controller is constructed based on the model predictive control, and the lower controller is established using the PID algorithm. The simulation results show that the adaptive cruise control strategy considering driving style can follow the vehicle stably under different conditions and satisfy the needs of different drivers with universality and stability.
