Electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems frequently employ permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) because of their remarkable torque-to-current ratio, high power-to-weight ratio, robustness, and exceptional efficiency. This paper compares the proportional integral (PI) control and fuzzy logic within the finite-control-set model predictive current control (FCS-MPCC) scheme for PMSM speed regulation. The FCS-MPCC control enhances the accuracy of current regulation, contributing to improved efficiency and response times than other commonly used control methods. Typically, Positive steady-state performance is demonstrated by the PI speed controller, but it is susceptible to parameter variations like load changes and speed fluctuations. For achieving a superb performance, a fuzzy logic speed controller is employed for advancing electric propulsion systems in the realm of EV applications. MATLAB/Simulink is used to run the simulation. and the results demonstrate that the FLC controller presents good performances and high robustness compared to the PI speed regulation strategies.
