Car-to-X Communication is a driver assistance technology that notifies drivers of potentially hazardous situations before the driver or the car discovers them. For example, a car equipped with car-to-X Communication may get information about a broken-down vehicle on the highway before the driver observes it. In contrast to existing systems that provide a comparable service via short-range, direct carto-car and car-to-infrastructure communication, such warnings are created by other vehicles equipped with the system and dispatched via mobile network connections to and from a backend (cloud). The system is comprised of an in-vehicle component and software that communicates with the cloud via the mobile phone network.
