Multiple Signal Classification (Music) algorithm is a commonly and widely used DOA estimation algorithm with high resolution. With the increasing requirements of real-time performance, improve the speed and reduce the complexity of the algorithm has become an important problem to be solved for the realization of hardware circuits. In this paper, a reduced dimension polynomial root multiple signal classification (RC-ROOT-MUSIC) algorithm for phase coded Multiple transmit multiple receive (MIMO) radar DOA estimation is proposed. Taking advantage of the redundancy of the received signal data, dimensionality reduction matrix is used to reduce the requirement of snapshot number and the complexity of covariance matrix calculation. In order to further reduce the computational complexity, the polynomial root operation is carried out on the spatial spectrum function after the RC-MUSIC algorithm, and the extreme points of the spatial spectral function are obtained, and the target DOA is determined by the extreme points set. Experiments show that the polynomial root reduction MUSIC algorithm is conducive to hardware implementation, as it is able to accurately measure the direction of arrival, and greatly reduce the computational complexity.
