This paper proposes that by using an IQ-demodulator (IQD) in addition to IQ-modulator (IQM), the timing of pulse train can be arbitrarily controlled. This pulse source seems quite practical because all the requirements are fully satisfied. Moreover, this pulse source can be applied to realize a viable channel selector for 160-Gb/s OTDM demultiplexing. Randomly chosen 10-Gb/s channels are demultiplexed out of 160-Gb/s data stream even under a large amount of length drift of the compression fiber.
