In this paper, we study the average age of information (AoI) in energy harvesting wireless sensor networks with preemptive transmission. The downlink control signal is transmitted to sensors for allocating wireless resource with ARQ, and two sensors synchronously harvest energy and send the sampled common data to a base station (destination) with truncated HARQ-MRC. Firstly, the energy state transition diagram is characterized by a Markov chain and the construction method of energy transition matrix is introduced. Then, the expression of average AoI is derived for the preemptive transmission. Lastly, numerical results are provided to evaluate the energy and AoI performance of dual-sensor status update systems.
