Nowadays, there are 14 subway lines have been put into operation in Beijing. Some underpasses of the subway station can lead straight to malls. In consideration of the underpasses of subway-mall usually have high pedestrian volume and are in different business situation, there will be certain hidden troubles in fire control. As the research object in this paper, to obtain the basic parameters of pedestrian characteristics, large-scale investigation of pedestrian features had been carried in four different and typical underpasses of the subway station. By the results of statistical analysis, the models of safety evacuation of the four different underpasses are established by using emergency evacuation simulation software STEPS (Simulation of Transient Evacuation and Pedestrian Movements) and the safety evacuation time in fire scenario have been obtained. As an actual example of pedestrian safety evacuation analysis for the underpass of subway-mall, the scientific bases for pre-plan evaluation and performance-based fire protection design are provided in the paper.
