The high efficiency, compactness, high torque to inertia ratio, etc features has made the use of PMSM drive most suitable for electric vehicles. In this paper, the simulation of PMSM is done in braking mode with the implementation of Field oriented control. The implementation of Field oriented control controls the bidirectional power conversion of inverter for its operation in motoring and braking mode. In this system, the energy is directly fed back to the battery of 1.8 KW which is initially 80% charged. This system does not involve the use of any additional converters which increases the efficiency of the system to a great extent. This energy which is fed back to the energy storage system (Battery) during braking mode is a must for hybrid and plug-in vehicles for increasing their travel range and overall efficiency of the system.
