As traffic forecast is necessary for people travelling, the traffic issue becomes increasingly significant in the urban city. In this paper, we introduce the birth and death process to describe the behaviors of vehicles and then we propose a traffic model based on queueing theory to simulate the traffic on the road. We discuss two situations of the traffic systems which are the stationary state and the congested state. In a stationary state, we deduce statistical variables of the traffic system, the number of vehicles and the waiting time for passing the section of the road, which usefully offers valid information for drivers. Besides, we utilize our model to simulate the traffic and the distribution of vehicle number under stationary of theoretical results as well as simulation results are obtained, which shows the validity of our model.
