Today, fare collection systems are quite widely used in public transport vehicles. The public transportation system managers need to follow numbers of people in the vehicle instantaneously. Information such as passenger movement in bus stops, the occupancy rate of routes, the number of stowaways can be achieved with passenger counting systems. The number of boarding on vehicles can be obtained with the number of cards that are used. However, the number of people in the vehicle varies due to many factors such as without card entries, passengers that getting off from vehicles. In this study, a system that instantaneously monitoring the number of people in public transport vehicles has been developed using service oriented architecture. Services are designed in RESTful web service structure. This developed system is an innovative method of using web services for embedded systems running at the field. This system, which is integrated in public transport, has been tested with high number of devices in the field and the system has been optimized.
