The paper addresses the idea of using Haar wavelets to generate multiresolution versions of a binary object's surface and to determine the dominant points of that surface. Finding the dominant points is equivalent to segmenting the surface into its piecewise linear components. Two dimensional and three dimensional segmentation algorithms are described and segmentation results are presented for simple 2D and 3D objects. The performance of this approach is compared for the 2D case to two other established methods.<>
