Summary form only given. In conclusion, we demonstrated the capability of the integrated laser Mach Zehnder (ILMZ) modulator to be used in 2.5-Gbit/s systems with a negative power penalty at a distance of 1086 km. The intrinsic characteristics of the Mach-Zehnder modulator to be wavelength independent opens promising ways for future wavelength-division multiplexing systems.
