Aiming at improving complex product maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service efficiency and level, the research on improving aircraft maintenance operations through model based definition (MBD) maintenance support system is proposed. With MBD, maintenance data information organization and management according to the maintenance structure, description and integration of job card, 3-D maintenance design and maintenance process simulation are studied in this research. Three different types of nodes are introduced to describe maintenance BOM (MBOM). A new structure and formal description of new job card is given. Based on 3-D lightweight model, 3-D maintenance design and maintenance process simulation are studied. Finally, a MBD prototype system of aircraft maintenance support for A320 nose landing gear shows that this method can express work process more accurately, intuitively and non-ambiguously, so as to improve on-site maintenance efficiency and reduce maintenance errors.
