In this paper, the theoretical modeling of a mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser, in an unidirectional ring cavity containing a polarizer placed between two halfwave plates, was considered. The phase plates allow to control the orientation of the eigenaxis of the fiber at each side of the polarizer. The fiber is assumed to be birefringent and to have gain, group velocity dispersion and optical Kerr nonlinearity.
