With the evolution of power electronic topologies, the compatibility of integrating solar PV, fuel cells, batteries, ultra-capacitors, wind power, and EV loads with the utility grid or standalone AC microgrid has enhanced. This paper proposes a hybrid control scheme for precise load sharing of several distributed generations (DGs) in parallel and improves AC microgrid voltage and frequency stabilization under varying load conditions. The control of an AC microgrid employing an enhanced universal droop control scheme for master VSI operated in a standalone mode is presented in this paper. Further, the current reference for slave DG is set independently to account for local load variations. Hence, local load variations do not affect AC microgrid voltage or frequency. Finally, the proposed control scheme is verified through real time Opal-RT and experimental results.
