GyroWheel is an innovative device which can measure two-axes angular rates as well as provide three-axes control torques simultaneously. In order to solve the problem of tilt motion control of the GyroWheel system, this paper provides a control method with variable parameters nutation damping controller since the nutation frequency of the GyroWheel system varies with its spinning velocity. The control method is presented based on the precession motion characteristics that are obtained according to simplified mathematical model. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness and practicability of the control method.
