The development of unmanned platforms and their safe use is one of the essential aspects of the global air transport development policy. The UAV platforms are beginning to be widely used in areas of the economy where their use has so far been undesirable or even prohibited. One such area is airports. This change is mainly due to the increase in the reliability of the structure, the development of monitoring capabilities and the introduction of relevant normative documents. In 2020, a consortium of 10 international entities received a positive opinion from the European Commission Innovation and Networks Executive Agency and funding for the project "5 services of drones for increased airports and waterways safety and security – 5D AeroSafe". This article presents the project’s assumptions, the state of its implementation and the most important achievements.
