Port development has made a considerable contribution to China's economic growth and social construction. At present, the development of Chinese port efficiency is in a bottleneck period, and it is necessary to find out the problems and improve them. By collecting the statistical data of the six major ports, this paper compares the cargo throughput of each region. It can be found that the port throughput in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta region is significantly different from that in the Bohai Rim region. This is due to China's economic transformation and domestic industry relocation. In the data analysis part, this paper adopts the DEA-BCC model and selects the efficiency of the six major ports with the highest port throughput in 2020 for an overall static evaluation. The results show that the comprehensive port technical efficiency in the Bohai Rim region is low, mainly due to the unreasonable allocation of resources, resulting in excess input and insufficient output. The overall efficiency values of the three ports in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Ningbo are relatively high, showing the unbalanced development of domestic ports. By comparing the situation of ports in various regions in China, this paper is conducive to intuitively discovering the gaps in port operation management and strategic planning to improve port efficiency in the future and support the social development of port areas.
