In recent years, with the continuous development of global shipbuilding technology and the development of international trade volume, the gradual large-scale of ships is an undisputed fact. However, for these ships, there is also an important problem to face: the risk of ship stranding due to too close proximity to obstacles is increasing. Precautions should therefore be taken to radically reduce the likelihood of ship stranding. In the route planning, although the traditional A-star algorithm has the advantages of being simple and easy to implement and can ensure the convergence of the global optimal solution, it does not consider the safety distance between the ship and the obstacle. Therefore, this paper optimizes it on the basis of the traditional A-star algorithm: the factor of safety distance is also used as one of the filter conditions near the node in the algorithm. Simulation has shown that compared with the traditional A-star algorithm, the improved algorithm has the purpose of maintaining a safe distance from obstacles.
