Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) is an effective way to measure the temporal/spectral profile of the intensity and phase of an ultrashort laser pulse. A new variation of FROG, called grating-eliminated no-nonsense observation of ultrafast incident laser-light e-fields (GRENOUILLE), is known for its low cost, compact size, and user-friendliness.
