Information provisions about the behavior of the mainline vehicle as a human-machine interface based on augmented reality (AR) are expected for realizing a smoother and safer merge on merging sections. Therefore, in order to verify the effectiveness of AR for providing information about the behavior of the mainline vehicle to drivers of merging vehicles, a novel system for verifying the merging behavior based on the gaze analysis of the drivers of merging vehicles is expected. In this paper, a virtual reality driving simulator (VRDS) that can measure the gaze was developed for driving experiments. By utilizing VRDS, the accumulation of some data about the driver’s behavior was realized.
