Compared with high speed railway technology, the development of heavy-haul railway technology lags behind, and it is urgent to introduce new technology to improve the transportation efficiency and operation safety of heavy-haul railway. This paper analyzes the status quo, technology and existing problems of domestic heavy-haul railway, proposes the operation control of heavy-haul train based on virtual coupling, establishes the dynamic model and safety braking model of heavyhaul train based on virtual coupling, from the dual perspectives of ensuring safety and considering the influence of tracking interval parameters, The optimization of train interval control and speed protection during the operation of heavy haul trains based on virtual coupling is realized. Numerical simulation is carried out in the laboratory to verify the proposed model, which provides a theoretical basis for the design of heavy haul train control system based on virtual coupling.
