Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) is a technique that is frequently used to correct for selective availability (SA) induced ranging errors. However, long sampling periods and the time delay (latency) between the generation of corrections and their application by the user are a fundamental performance limitation on DGPS. A recursive least squares (RLS) based predictor is suggested to provide future values of SA for latency compensation in DGPS. The efficacy of the predictor is illustrated for different amounts of learning data and sampling rates through collected SA from operational GPS satellite.
