In this communication, we report on efficient second harmonic generation (SHG) telecom wavelengths in an optimised buried waveguide made by reverse proton exchange (RPE) in 2D hexagonally poled LiNbO/sub 3/ (HexLN). We also have analysed the response of the HexLN device for the non-symmetric case, in which the two SHG processes, quasi-phase-matched by different reciprocal lattice vectors of the HexLN pattern.
