This paper presents a model of electric vehicle fast charging station (EVFCS) connected to the grid. Impact of supply side voltage sag on the process of charging of an electric vehicle (EV) connected to EVFCS is studied. Behaviour of quantities relevant to the process such as DC link voltage, charging current, state-of-charge (SOC) and voltage of battery are investigated using MATLAB/Simulink. A dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) based on 5-level transistor-clamped H-bridge (TCHB) inverter is used to mitigate the voltage sag and to improve the performance of EVFCS. The simulation results shows the beneficial influence of the DVR mitigation on DC-link voltage, charging current, voltage and SOC of battery.
