Induction motors has been a popular candidate in industrial as well as automotive application because of its mature technology, low cost and rugged construction. In comparison with conventional three phase Induction motor polyphase induction motors show additional advantages such as fault tolerant operation, additional degree of freedom, less torque ripple, extension in torque speed range. Pole Phase Modulated Multiphase Induction motor provides wide torque speed range as it can be operated in different modes that are equivalent to gear mode operation of an IC engine Vehicle. In this paper the Pole Phase Modulated Multiphase Induction motor speed control using indirect field-oriented control is described. PI-tuning of the controllers is done using the dynamic equations of the motor using a state variable descriptions. Stability analysis of the motor has been determined using bode plot. The simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink shows the controller provides a very good dynamic response and makes the system stable, which are validated through experimental testing of the PPMIM.
