Due to the integrated starter generator replacing both starter motor and generator of an conventional vehicles in a single electric machine, it emissions benefits of hybrid electric vehicles propulsion. In this paper, a new permenant magnet claw pole machine applied to integrated starter generator system is proposed. The structure characteristics and operation principle are introduced, then according to the equivalent magnetic circuit model, the performance calculation model is built and simulation of operation characteristics is finished. Moreover, the 3D magnetic field calculated by finite element method, the back electromagnetic force, no load air gap flux density and self inductance is obtain. The results of simulation and magnetic calculation verify feasibility of the PM claw pole machine, which is suitable to integrated starter generator system.
