Airspace engineering, in its multidisciplinary content, uses various diagnostic methods aimed at the health monitoring of flying vehicle components. The paper is focused on the vibration diagnostic method. Authors have realized vibration measurements on gas turbine engine GTD-5M as preliminary research experiments made before vibration monitoring of aircraft gas turbine engines (AGTE). A purposefully focused processing method of the signal from the accelerometer has been developed. Multidisciplinary knowledge and experiences have been needed for measurement setup, analysis tools, and data interpretation. Cooperation of avionic specialists with engine technicians allowed to avoid long time study of signal recording and processing methods. The paper is focused on signal processing introductory for airspace engineers and technical personnel that deal with rotating machines’ vibrations. The basic theory comes from well-known authors – Randall (Australia), Cempel (Poland), Haris (UK), Doroshko (Russia) and Tuma (Czech rep.); however, they are not cited in all details. Their knowledge and experiences are often transformed by specialists who bring new findings in methodology, including authors of actual paper. Some complicated details cited are recommended to be studied deeply in original works.
