In real-life conditions, the detection of the moving thing is a largely developing research area for this current technology-oriented generation. This research area is a good and interesting choice for the video surveillance system and has drawn the attention of various academicians and researchers who introduce advancements on the current technology. This paper includes the basic study of the moving object detection using background subtraction in the video surveillance system and different representations of the object that has been detected. The current existing problems related to the object detection are also discussed in this paper. The video surveillance system is a widely used security monitoring system used in places like hospital, ATMs, holy places, and many different places where security is necessary. The basic building block of any surveillance system is the detection of the moving objects and analyzing them.
