In this letter, we derive an approximate method for solving femtosecond pulse amplification by transforming the time domain signal to the frequency domain, where the signal amplification is treated using the traditional rate equation model. In this model, the characteristics of the Er-doped fiber have been taken into account and the gain needed for solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation can also be derived.
