The daily aspect of road safety is extremely crucial since it is a component of every transport system. Everyone in the world is a road user directly or indirectly. The present transport system has reduced the distances but enhanced the dangers because of the bad infrastructure. Lakhs of road accidents occur annually, claiming countless lives and leaving millions injured seriously. This research addresses the use of microcontrollers and other sensor technologies that would be implemented on highways to enhance the road safety of travelers. The prime focus is to enhance the road safety by providing sufficient notice to the driver or rider about the hindrance in front of him in time. For this purpose, proximity infrared sensors have been placed in all streetlights on highways, hence when disturbances or obstacles are sensed, it produces a temporary electrical pulse. This is thereby sent between close-by streetlights to send word of the interference to approaching automobiles in time, alerting the driver or biker well beforehand. The system also includes an added module which has an integrated ultrasonic sensor placed within the vehicle for point-blank transmission and barrier recognition. Power-cutting options also exist on the streetlight system by auto-fading if it does not spot any vehicle inside the range of the within stipulated time. Experimental experiments have been conducted, and the efficiency of the suggested model is relatively higher than that of the current systems.
