The flight tracking control problem of the unmanned helicopter is addressed by designing a linear quadratic optimal controller based on the 6-DOF unmanned helicopter system, in this paper. The unmanned helicopter system, being a nonlinear and strongly coupled system, necessitates consideration. The nonlinear and coupling of the unmanned helicopter system is reduced by feedback linearization method firstly, and then linear quadratic optimal controller is designed to control the transformed system. At last, through simulation the effectiveness of the controller is confirmed.
