This paper proposes a stray current and rail potential dynamic emulator (SCRPDE) for urban rail transit. As one of important components, bidirectional variable resistance module (BVRM) is adopted to emulate the train's movement characteristics under different operation conditions. Moreover, SCRPDE can be applied to both grounding and floating DC traction systems. The corresponding control strategies for SCRPDE are analyzed at the same time. Finally, the feasibility and validity of SCRPDE and control strategies are verified by simulation and experimental results.
