In the present paper we report femtosecond (fs) transient absorption (TA) and time resolved photoluminescence (PL) studies of ultrafast energy relaxation and recombination in II-VI semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) with a variety of sizes, spanning different confinement regimes. In particular, we will address the issue on the existence of the "phonon bottleneck" in carrier relaxation dynamics predicted for quantum confined systems.
