Submicron sized damage spots were created inside collagen gel by multiphoton absorption of ultra-short 775 nm laser pulses. Submicron nodules were formed both near the surface and at a depth of up to 30 /spl mu/m to test the behaviour and depth-dependence of the damage threshold.
