Summary form only given, as follows. The complete presentation was not made available for publication as part of the conference proceedings. The ability of the air transportation system to maintain a high level of safety is a testament to the operators of the system, as well as the technology and systems implemented to ensure safe operations. The Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) adds another layer to this system to maintain an up‐to‐date record of the aircraft progress in all phases of flight, and, in case of a crash, forced landing or ditching, the location of survivors, the aircraft and recoverable flight data. There are several initiatives underway, coordinated by regulatory agencies, to develop and deploy GADDS using advances in enabling technologies such as space-based ADS-B. The Integrated Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (ICNS) system is a critical element of GADDS. This workshop will provide an overview of the GADSS concept of operations and discuss the implications of GADSS to ICNS service provides and consumers.
