The automobile industry has undergone a revolution in the recent past by accelerated rise of new technologies, increasing automation and cars have higher-end microprocessors on wheels. The driver assistance and support system are increasing in commercial vehicles. But the existing system does not include the driver in the loop for decision making. Driver fatigue is a major problem on roads and is believed to contribute most of the road accidents. Driver fatigue includes cardiac problems during driving. A simple method for detecting these cardiac problems at the early stage is based on beat arrhythmias. Most of the time beat arrhythmias are harmless. However, some arrhythmias can be harmful or even deadly. This paper explains about how to detect the harmful beat arrhythmia in automotive drivers. At the software side, use LABVIEW software which can process electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) signal and graphically display the recorded heartrate.
