In order to analysis the flight performance of a compound helicopter, this research presents a numerical method to assess the flight total power and power transmission efficiency of the helicopter. This method combines the models of aerodynamics and the mechanical transmission loss to obtain a comprehensive evaluation. Moreover, this study performs experiments to simulate the transition flight mode of compound helicopter, measuring the shaft power under various settings. The experiment results are analyzed for the validation of the numerical method. This research establishes a more effective performance evaluation for the compound helicopter.
