The present research paper deals with a theoretical study, a numerical simulation and a control strategy of the wind energy conversion system (WECS). Based on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), the stator is directly connected to the grid, as its rotor is connected to the electrical network through a back to back converter and (RL) filter. The Rotor Side Converter (RSC) controls the power flow from the stator of the DFIG to the grid by controlling the rotor currents of the DFIG. The Grid Side Converter (GSC) ensures the regulation of the DC voltage to the desired value, and regulates the power flow from the rotor of the DFIG to the grid by controlling the filter currents. Standard PI current controllers are used to regulate the GSC and the RSC output currents. The simulation results presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed control technique during wind fluctuation.
