The use of fossil fuels in transportation systems is the second-largest contributor to the production of greenhouse gases. Electric vehicles, also known as EVs, are widely considered to be an excellent answer to this issue. Due to the fact that the propeller is propelled by an electric motor as opposed to an internal combustion engine, CO2 emissions can be reduced by the EVs. When combined with renewable energy sources, EVs could enable zero-emission transportation. This study reviews the developments of EVs in terms of battery technology trends, charging methods, as well as new research challenges. The aim is to provide an overview of the most recent advancements in the constantly evolving field of electric vehicles. In a comparison study that looks at specific energy and power, cost, and application. Batteries are employed as the major energy storage. This study helps us better grasp the present status of battery technology used in electric vehicles (EVs).
