Surge inception identification is the basis of active control on aero-engine compressor. S-transform as a method of signal processing provides the time-frequency information of the signal. The paper identifies the surge inception based on S-transform. By modeling the surge of compressor, the paper analyzes the feasibility of identification using S-transform, and gives the successful application of surge inception identification to an aero-engine based on S-transform.
