The focus of this paper is to analyze a phase-coded linear frequency modulated continuous wave (PCLFMCW) radar waveform for short range measurement applications. Advances in direct digital frequency synthesis (DDFS) and integrated frequency synthesizer integrated circuits provide a means to generate repeatable complex modulation. The generation of complex modulation signal allows digital implementation of compound waveforms composed of sweeps of varying duration, direction, bandwidth and phase. A compound radar waveform consisting of a phase-code and a linear frequency modulated continuous wave carrier is analyzed. The waveform analysis is performed on a short range through-wall sensing application.
